Children should spend 30 minutes on Homework each night
Irish Spellings - children receive a list at the beginning of each term. Each night children will complete an activity in their homework copy based on the spellings for that week.
Dictation - Every Monday children participate in a dictation exercise. From this exercise they determine what their spellings will be for the week based on words they have spelt incorrectly.
Mental Maths book - Children complete an activity from this book each night including the problem solving activities. On a Friday we do the Friday review in class.
Tables - Children will have a different set of tables to learn each week - these are tested on a Friday
English Reading - Children will have reading each night from their PM readers that they receive each day during Literacy Lift Off activities in class. Please ensure that you sign the record sheet each night when your child has completed this.
Irish Reading - Séideán Sí books - Each child has a séideán sí reading book that they read from each night. There are some useful recordings under the 'Gaeilge' section that will help yourselves and your child with pronouncing some of the words. Only refer to this when your child has read the book independently first or when there is a word/phrase that they need a little extra support with. There are also some fantastic games on the séideán sí website based on each book that I would encourage children to play as much as possible.
Sometimes children will have some project/research homework.
